Founded in 2001 by Dimitar Dimitrov, former Deputy Chairman of the Bulgarian Securities Commission, together with Katya Todorova, an experienced attorney in financing and capital market deals, DTT was designed as a boutique law firm to offer high quality services in Bulgarian securities law and provide focused advice on unusual and difficult policy and enforcement issues. In 2003 Iordan Tchompalov, former member of the Bulgarian Securities Commission and USAID legal advisor in Bulgaria for capital market regulations, joined the firm.
We believe that in capital market work DTT partners have the unique for Bulgaria depth and scope that comes from being intensively involved with securities and corporations, start from the very first advent of the modern Bulgarian Securities Law in 1996. Dimitrov and Tchompalov have major contribution in drafting the Law on the Public Offering of Securities 1999, its 2002 substantial amendments and the 2005 mutual funds amendments, as well as of most of the secondary securities legislation, as well as the Law on the Special Purpose Investment Company 2003 (the Bulgarian securitization law).
We lay stress on innovative, yet always practical solutions. Clients see us as being on the ball: rapid and solution-oriented. They appreciate our partners’ personal style, our accessibility and clarity and recommend us to others as we make things happen.
Today, while DTT maintains its primary focus on securities law, our practice has gradually extended to related matters like corporate governance, asset securitization, financial institutions, mergers and acquisitions. Beyond our well-known capital market law and corporate practice, the firm also renders to both domestic and international clients qualified legal services in pension funds, banking, and, in association with Stoeva, Kuyumdjieva and Vitliemov Law Firm, offers services in other areas like insurance, competition, intellectual property, environmental, real estate, energy & natural resources, litigation & arbitration.
